Embark on an afternoon tour of Hobart. You’ll see historic Battery Point, Salamanca Place, the Botanic Gardens, Constitution Dock and Mt. Nelson for panoramic views of the city. A welcome dinner will be prepared for the group this evening.

Head west to New Norfolk before continuing to Mt. Field National Park - home of the spectacular three-tiered Russell Falls. Then enjoy a scenic drive to the iconic Lake St Clair, the deepest freshwater lake in Australia. Continue through the rainforest to the coastal town of Strahan. Situated on the shores of the Macquarie Harbour, Strahan is the gateway to the World Heritage listed Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park.

Enjoy lunch while cruising down the Gordon River. You’ll be awestruck by the beauty of the dark waters, stained amber by buttongrass tannins. Stop at Sarah Island for an insight into a relic of Tasmania’s lesser-known convict history - the Macquarie Harbour Penal Settlement. Pass through the Gates to Hell, a nickname conferred by convicts, as the cruise passes through the mouth of the harbour to continue its journey to Heritage Landing. Travel through the mining towns of Rosebery and Tullah on your way to your hotel, at the boundary of the Cradle Mountain National Park.

Marvel at the inspiring beauty of Cradle Mountain National Park as you make your way to Dove Lake. On a guided walk you’re likely to spot native animals such as bennetts wallabies, echidnas and pademelons grazing on the alpine heathlands. Travel on through rolling green hills to Table Cape for spectacular views of Bass Strait. As you head West, catch sight of Stanley fondly known as “The Nut” - a distinctive flat-topped circular knoll on the horizon along the Bass Strait. End the day at Smithton.

Travel through the picturesque coastal townships of Burnie, Penguin and Ulverstone before heading inland to Sheffield, home to over 60 murals depicting the area’s rich history. En route to Launceston you’ll learn about dairy production methods and indulge in a cheese tasting session at the award-winning Ashgrove Tasmanian Farm.

This morning, visit the unique natural formation of the Cataract Gorge, home to the longest single-span chairlift in the world, followed by an orientation tour of the city. The afternoon is yours to spend at leisure, exploring all that Launceston has to offer. Consider an optional experience on a Cataract Gorge River Cruise.

Visit Bridestowe Lavender Estate, producer of high quality lavender since 1922. Later, check out the Legerwood Carved Memorial Trees site, then follow the picturesque east coast to Bicheno. This evening consider taking an optional tour to see either Bicheno’s wild penguins as they emerge from the ocean (seasonal), or the iconic Tasmanian Devil.

Get your camera ready for the spectacular and breathtaking Freycinet National Park. Take a guided walk to the lookout at Cape Tourville for astonishing views across brilliant blue water, verdant forest and golden beaches. Then continue your journey through Swansea and Orford to reach Hobart.

Explore Port Arthur Historic Site today. Enjoy a cruise around the Isle of the Dead then take a guided walk through Port Arthur’s infamous convict prison. Check out rugged sea cliffs and feast your eyes on the vistas of Tasman’s Arch, Devil’s Kitchen and the Blowhole on the drive back to Hobart. End the day with a farewell dinner with fellow travellers.

Your tour concludes this morning after breakfast. Transfer to Hobart Airport for your departure flight.
