Day 2 : Christchurch – Dunedin

Travel south across the Canterbury Plains to reach Dunedin, renowned for its local wildlife and Otago University. Enjoy a city tour of Dunedin this afternoon. In winter (May - September), the city tour of Dunedin will be conducted on the morning of Day 3, allowing a free afternoon on arrival for optional activities.

Day 3: Dunedin – Queenstown

A free morning for optional activities before departing Dunedin. Travel to Queenstown this afternoon. Start with a train journey through the Taieri Gorge to Pukerangi, then continue by coach following old gold-mining trails.

Day 4: Milford Sound (day trip)

Follow the southern leg of Lake Wakatipu to Lumsden, and contiue on to Lake Te Anau. Enter the Eglinton Valley and travel through the breathtaking man-made Homer Tunnel to reach Milford Sound. Enjoy a cruise on this world-famous fiord, dominated by Mitre Peak and the cascading Bowen Falls. Lunch will be served onboard. Next, return to Queenstown.

Day 5: Queenstown

Enjoy the day at leisure. Queenstown is fantastic for experiencing high adrenaline activities such as bungy jumping, jetboating, white water rafting, gondola riding and more. Optional activities are not included in the tour price.

Day 6: Queenstown – Glacier Region

Travel along the shores of Lakes Wanaka and Hawea to the Haast Pass. Continue up the West Coast past spectacular mountain ranges, native forests and lakes to the glacier region of Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers.

Day 7: Glacier Region – Christchurch

Travel north to Greymouth today and board the TranzAlpine train. Ascend through lush beech forests past the alpine village of Arthur’s Pass before crossing the spectacular Southern Alps. Travel over the Canterbury Plains to reach ‘the garden city’ of Christchurch.
