8D Perth & The Southwest Drive

On arrival, pick up your car and drive to the hotel to check in. Should you arrive in Perth on an early flight, consider spending the day shopping at Perth’s famous Hay and Murray Street Malls or visit Kings Park where nature’s exhibition of wildflowers awaits. Board the famed Fremantle cruise where lunch will be served onboard.

A short drive northeast of the city along the Great Eastern Highway, and you’ll find yourself in the picturesque Swan Valley. Follow the award-winning food and wine trail as you drive towards your farmstay. Travellers are advised to arrive early for lunch, as your stay will begin with a tour of the farm accompanied by a chance to have a go at the many activities available. These include feeding hens, grooming horses, counting cattle, bush walking, bird watching, and stargazing.

After breakfast, bid your farm host goodbye and drive to Bunbury. Get up close and personal with dolphins at Koombana Bay Dolphin Discovery Centre. Then travel down to the turquoise bay of Busselton and take a 1.8km stroll or hop on a train ride across the Indian Ocean. Australia’s artificial reef can be viewed by stepping into the Underwater Observatory or getting suited up for a diving tour.

Travel to the region of Dunsborough and visit the galleries and wineries there. Stock up on local produce like cheese from the Margaret River Dairy Company, and olive oil from Olio Bello and Margaret River Chocolate Company. The region is also known for lavender scented scones beautifully made at Cape Lavender. Explore Lake Cave, Jewel Cave, Mammoth Cave as well as Nigili Cave. Next, have afternoon tea at The Berry Farm. Consider a four-wheel drive adventure to the Yeagerup Dunes or visit a marron farm in Pemberton. Spend the afternoon at Albany Wind Farm and explore the vicinity by taking one of the walking trails. Then visit Valley of the Giants in Walpole and go on a trail meandering across the forest floor in between 400-year-old red tingle trees.

In the morning, visit Torndirrup National Park, where impressive, naturally formed rock formations such as The Gap, Natural Bridge and The Blowholes are scattered. Continue to Mount Romance Sandalwood Factory for a sensual treat of sandalwood aromas. End the evening with a visit to the Fremantle Markets for some sweet and savoury delicacies.
