(For the latest information regarding the Vaccinated Travel Lane and its entry requirements, kindly refer to Vaccinated Travel Lane 101)

As Singapore moves towards an endemic COVID-19 phase, with effect from 8 September 2021, the Germany-Singapore Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) will be launched as part of a gradual relaxation of border restrictions. This means that eligible fully vaccinated travellers will be allowed to travel to and from Germany, for any purposes including leisure travel, without any quarantine restrictions. Here’s all you need to know about this VTL and the travel enquiry requirements.

Flying from Germany to Singapore

In order for travellers to enter Singapore via the VTL, any traveller who is not a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident must apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP). The VTP can be applied with effect from 1 September 2021 onwards for entry into Singapore.

For Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, a VTP is not required for travel to Singapore via the VTL. However, proof of their vaccination status on the Health Hub app must be presented in their country of departure at check in. Upon reaching Singapore, Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents do not need to serve Stay Home Notice (SHN) if their on-arrival polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test is negative.

What are the requirements for VTL?

To be eligible for travel via the Germany-Singapore VTL, these are the following requirements travellers must fulfil:

  • Be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 with the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty, Moderna or other World Health Organisation Emergency Use Listing vaccines, with the final dose completed at least 14 days prior to arrival in Singapore.
  • Have no travel history to any other places other than Germany and/or Singapore in the last 21 consecutive days prior to departure from Germany to Singapore
  • Have a negative COVID-19 PCR swab test result within 48 hours prior to departure
  • Travel on designated VTL flights

How many PCR tests do I need to take in total?

In total for a round trip to Germany, 5 PCR tests needs to be taken – 1 taken before departing Singapore, 1 before departing from Germany, and 3 more after coming back to Singapore.

Before returning to Singapore, travellers must take a PCR test in Germany. Self-test kits are not allowed.

Once travellers land in Singapore, travellers will need to take an on-arrival PCR test along with immigration and customs. While waiting for this on-arrival PCR test results, travellers will need to self-isolate themselves.

After clearing the on-arrival PCR test, travellers will need to take another two tests on Day 3 and Day 7 in Singapore.

What are the VTL flights available?

Currently only Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa offer VTL flights from Germany to Singapore.

Starting from 7 September, Singapore Airlines offers 5 VTL fights a week – 2 flights from Munich, 3 flights from Frankfurt. Lufthansa will start offering 2 VTL flights on 16 September 2021, flying from Frankfurt to Singapore.
