On arrival, pick up your car and spend the day at leisure exploring the best of what Perth has to offer.

From Perth, head north to Western Australia. Travel to Cervantes, a charming coastal town best known for its proximity to Nambung National Park and the Pinnacles Desert. Walk among thousands of towering limestone structures dotting the Pinnacles Desert landscape, formed more than 25,000 years ago. Stay the night in Geraldton, a large coastal city that you would have passed through on the journey up.

Your morning starts with a visit to the spectacular Hutt Lagoon Pink Lake. Continue your drive and explore the dramatic coastal cliffs of Kalbarri’s Red Bluff which offer amazing views overlooking the ocean. Next, visit the 183,0000-hectare Kalbarri National Park that is home to 400-million-year-old river gorges, dramatic coastal rock formations and a large variety of flora and fauna. For an incredible experience, drive out to the park’s many lookouts. Thereafter, visit Kalbarri Skywalk, perched right on the cliff top.

Head to Shark Bay and discover unique sea life and landforms at the Shark Bay World Heritage area. Next, encounter The Stromatolites at Hamelin Pool along World Heritage Drive. These remarkable ‘living fossils’ are the oldest and largest in the world. Then visit Shell Beach, named for the millions of tiny white shells that have collected here in place of sand.

Start the day with one of Shark Bay’s most popular attractions renowned for its wild dolphin experience – Monkey Mia. Surrounded by rusty red sand dunes, white sandy beaches and water teeming with wildlife, Monkey Mia is the best place to spot the resident wild dolphins as they come ashore several times a day to feed. Then, make your way along the Batavia Coral Coast Highway down back to Geraldton, a bustling holiday destination with interesting museums, white sandy beaches, and a good spot for windsurfing.

From Geraldton, drive towards Perth for the final leg of this trip. On the way, stop at Lancelin and consider joining a sandboarding and 4-wheel drive sand dunes tour. Have fun traversing some of the most amazing sand dunes in Western Australia and capture amazing shots of the dunes framed against the magnificent backdrop of the crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Next, visit the Fremantle Markets to experience first-hand the age-old lure of its exotic aromas, fresh produce, eclectic fashion, live music, street theatre, crafts, and indigenous art.
