5D Chengdu - Leshan

Arrive at Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province.

Tour Huanglongxi Ancient Town – rich in rustic charm. Then pick fruits at a local farm. Next, take a coach ride to Le Shan (~2hr) and tour Leshan Giant Buddha. At 71m, this is the tallest stone Buddha statue in the world; it faces the sacred Mount Emei, with rivers Minjiang, Dadu and Qingyi, flowing below its feet. The statue is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hop on a boat ride for a better perspective of the statue, before transferring to Mount Emei (~1hr by coach).    

Explore Mount Emei, a sacred site to both Daoists and Buddhists. The Golden Summit is its main peak. Head back to Chengdu at the end of the day (~3hr by coach).  

Visit Wenshu Temple, dedicated to Wenshu, the incarnation of Wisdom. Continue to Wuhou Shrine, built in commemoration of Zhuge Liang, a brilliant military strategist from the Three Kingdoms Period. Then relax in a traditional Chinese tea house before continuing to Jinlin Old Street.    

Tour Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. The facility has raised over 100 giant panda cubs. Visit the panda nursery and observe pandas and other wild animals in well landscaped enclosures. Next, take a leisurely walk through Kuanzhai Alley, where buildings are in ancient Qing style. After which stroll along Chunxi Road for some shopping, then wander about Tianfu Square before heading to the airport.
